Summer Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 8am to 4pm

About the Role: As a Gardener Caretaker, you will be responsible for the maintenance and renovation of specific plots within a geographical region. This practical role involves a wide range of horticultural tasks, including turf culture, headstone border maintenance, pest control, and machinery operation. You will ensure that all work meets the high standards set by the Commission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform practical horticultural maintenance, including mowing, edging, and pruning.
- Plan and organise daily workloads, including stock orders for plants and chemicals.
- Operate and maintain work equipment and vehicles safely.
- Report structural defects and environmental developments.
- Adhere to safety procedures and conduct risk assessments.
- Provide advice and information to cemetery visitors.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Proven experience in horticultural or gardening work.
- NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture or equivalent.
- Good craft gardening skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and organisational skills.
- Good level of computer literacy or ability to learn quickly.
Desirable:
- Experience with pest control and machinery maintenance.
- Familiarity with health and safety procedures.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
