Contract Mainframe Solution Architect
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Solution Architect for a contract opportunity with a leading organisation. This role is ideal for a generalist with broad expertise across z/OS, CICS, DB2, IMS, and mainframe modernisation . You’ll be responsible for designing and optimising mainframe architectures , supporting cloud migrations, API integrations, and automation initiatives .
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance mainframe solutions
- Define architecture roadmaps and ensure alignment with IT and business strategies
- Lead mainframe modernisation , including cloud migration, API enablement, and DevOps adoption
- Optimise z/OS, CICS, COBOL, DB2, MQ, IMS , and related technologies
- Provide technical leadership in integration, automation, and performance tuning
- Collaborate with enterprise architects, engineers, and key stakeholders
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Mainframe Solution Architect in complex enterprise environments
- Expertise in z/OS, CICS, DB2, IMS, COBOL, JCL, REXX, and Assembler
- Experience with mainframe modernisation, cloud integration, and API development
- Strong understanding of high availability, security, and disaster recovery on mainframes
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools for mainframes
- Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership across projects
