We’re working with a fast-growing technology business that’s investing heavily in its network capability and customer-facing solutions. They’re now looking for a Network Presales Engineer who sits comfortably between pre-sales, architecture, and hands-on delivery, with strong depth across the Cisco networking stack.

This is a role for someone who enjoys shaping solutions early, influencing technical direction, and then seeing designs through to production.

The Role

You’ll play a key role in defining and delivering scalable, secure, and resilient network solutions for a diverse customer base. Acting as a technical authority, you’ll support pre-sales engagements, own network designs, and provide senior-level input across complex projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Taking ownership of network architecture and solution design, from concept through to implementation.
  • Partnering with sales and stakeholders during pre-sales, translating business requirements into robust Cisco-based designs.
  • Producing and maintaining clear, structured network documentation and standards.
  • Evaluating technologies and vendors, building solution options, and contributing to product and service direction.
  • Acting as the technical lead across network projects, ensuring designs are understood and delivered as intended.
  • Supporting complex escalations as a senior / fourth-line technical resource.
  • Working closely with project managers, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver against scope, time, and quality.
  • Remaining hands-on where needed — configuring, deploying, testing, and validating network solutions.

What We’re Looking For

This role suits someone who enjoys variety, can think commercially as well as technically, and is comfortable engaging with customers.

Essential experience and attributes:

  • Strong background in network design and architecture, ideally within customer-facing or MSP environments.
  • Solid understanding of Cisco enterprise networking, particularly switching and security.
  • Confidence working in pre-sales, including requirement capture and solution justification.
  • Ability to juggle multiple workstreams and remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility with customers.
  • Experience guiding or mentoring junior engineers.
  • Full right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).

Technical Skills – Cisco & Beyond

Experience in some of the following will be highly valuable:

  • Cisco certifications (CCNA / CCNP / CCDA / CCDP).
  • Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching, SD-Access, Firepower, and DNA Center.
  • Network automation and tooling (Ansible, AWX, Netmiko, Auvik).
  • Wired and wireless design, including Wi-Fi surveys (Ekahau).
  • WAN technologies (MPLS, VPNs, broadband).
  • Exposure to wider vendor ecosystems (Meraki, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Juniper, Extreme).
  • Network monitoring and tooling (PRTG, SolarWinds).
  • Awareness of security concepts such as identity, endpoint, CASB, and MDR.
  • Bonus: experience with OT networks, BMS protocols, or industrial connectivity.

Why Apply?

This is a chance to join a business that’s growing quickly, values technical leadership, and gives its engineers real influence over architecture and direction. You’ll work with modern technologies, varied customers, and a team that genuinely cares about doing things properly.

If you’re a Cisco-focused network engineer who enjoys pre-sales, architecture, and real technical ownership, this is a role worth exploring.
