Chapman Tate Associates is working with a forward-thinking managed services provider seeking a Junior Backup & DR Engineer to join their growing technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their IT career who wants hands-on experience across modern backup platforms, hybrid infrastructure, and cloud environments—while being supported through structured training and certifications.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Backup & Disaster Recovery Operations
- Monitor and manage backup jobs across enterprise platforms and SaaS environments
- Support cloud-based backup solutions and assist with troubleshooting issues
- Use monitoring and reporting tools to ensure backup success and performance
- Assist with onboarding new customers and participate in disaster recovery testing exercises
- Handle backup-related incidents and service requests via a ticketing system
- Investigate common failures and escalate where appropriate
- Maintain accurate documentation and provide clear customer updates
- Assist with day-to-day operations across virtualised environments (VMware, Hyper-V, and others)
- Support basic Microsoft infrastructure and Microsoft 365 administration
- Gain exposure to backup solutions across Azure, AWS, and Microsoft 365
- Assist with protecting SaaS platforms and implementing backup policies
- Follow structured change management processes
- Contribute to technical documentation, risk assessments, and incident analysis
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule (approx. 1 week in 4) supporting critical systems
What We’re Looking For
- A passion for IT infrastructure, backup, and cloud technologies
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a team
- Desirable (not essential): Progress towards backup, virtualisation, or cloud certifications
- Exposure to VMware, Microsoft Azure, or Microsoft 365 environments

Location & Requirements
- Hybrid working with travel to Banbury and data centre sites
- Must have right to work in the UK
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Willingness to undergo standard background checks
- Valid passport for occasional travel
