Chapman Tate Associates seeks an HPC Systems Engineer to join a leading solutions provider of High Performance Compute Solutions around the storage hardware, networking and analytics ecosystem of technologies. They bring value to organisations to help them gain better intelligence around the data they extract from HPC based systems.

My client has a rich heritage in supporting a number of Research Councils, Universities, as well as other firms within automotive, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, aerospace, fintech and media based industries. My client is flexible on location but you MUST be prepared to travel to customer sites. It is important that you have a UK Driving License.

You will work with customers remotely and on-site to support various areas around HPC related tasks and duties around Networking, Storage Arrays and Cloud based environments. The role will include the following areas (but not limited to):

  • To act as a high-level expert who can deal with escalated various HPC issues.
  • Perform benchmarks (to select suitable vendors and products).
  • Building and supporting Linux systems to support core infrastructure and a diverse user base.
  • Suggesting and providing IT solutions to business and management problems.
  • Promote a high-tech image for our client.
  • Collaborate with our compute and storage vendors.
  • Scripting and automation based tasks.

Technically for this role you will have experience around the following:

  • HPC compute and storage, in both hardware (CPUs, accelerators, interconnects, storage, etc.) and software (Linux components, HPC tools and parallel file systems).
  • Kernel patching experience.
  • Ability to debug Linux logs and determine appropriate response to problems.

The following experience would be desirable:

  • Parallel storage environments.
  • Backup software experience.
