Chapman Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Business Area Manager to join a well-established and growing M&E Building Services contractor. Established in 2003, the company delivers complete turnkey solutions across Electrical, Mechanical, Automation and HVAC sectors, earning an excellent reputation for quality, technical expertise, and long-term client relationships.

This opportunity is ideally suited to an experienced M&E Project Manager, Contracts Manager or Operations Manager looking to progress into a senior leadership role within a successful and expanding business. The role is based just off the M25 and will involve overseeing the operational delivery of multiple Mechanical & Electrical projects while working closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team to ensure commercial success, operational excellence and continued business growth.

Please note: This is an operational leadership role within an M&E contractor. Applicants must have a proven background in Mechanical & Electrical Construction or Building Services. Candidates whose experience is primarily within Sales, Business Development or Account Management will not be considered.

Business Area Manager – Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide operational leadership across multiple M&E projects from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Manage Project Managers, Contracts Managers and site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
  • Support the commercial management of projects, including contract performance, variations, final accounts and profitability.
  • Review and approve estimates and work alongside the estimating team during tender and pre-construction stages.
  • Work closely with the Managing Director to develop operational objectives, business plans and budgets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
  • Support business growth by identifying opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
  • Attend management meetings to review operational performance, project pipeline and future workload.
  • Drive high standards of quality, customer satisfaction, health & safety and operational performance throughout the business.
Business Area Manager - Essential Experience:
  • Proven experience within an M&E Contractor, Building Services Contractor or Engineering Contractor.
  • Previous experience as a Senior M&E Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Operations Manager or similar leadership position.
  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical construction projects.
  • Commercially aware with experience managing project costs, variations and final accounts.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, teams and client relationships simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Engineering qualification desirable.
