Job Purpose
To achieve monthly sales targets by effectively utilising all brand consumer offers and maximising profitability through available financial and add-on products. Promote brand awareness through consistent use of social media and video technology across all customer interactions. Ensure exceptional customer satisfaction by maintaining clear, transparent, and regular communication throughout the sales process. Uphold fairness and compliance in every sales opportunity by using the provided compliance tools and treating all customers with integrity and respect.
Key Tasks And Responsibilities
- To ensure budgetary sales / profit forecasts are achieved.
- To maintain the agreed annual rate of stock turnover.
- To ensure annual increase of local market penetration.
- To ensure used car stock value does not exceed agreed annual figures.
- To ensure cost effective utilisation of showroom and forecourt sales space.
- To maximize sale of extras and accessories.
- To monitor advertising and ensure budget is not exceeded.
- To monitor all contacts and leads to ensure a high conversion rate is achieved.
- To formulate sales targets for each salesperson and ensure that these are achieved.
- To ensure that sales staff receive new model launch training.
- To ensure that all car stock, new and used, is sold at a profit which achieves an acceptable return on stock investment.
- To improve the conversion ratio of showroom callers to sales.
- To ensure that customer complaints attributable to sales staff are minimal and resolved.
- A register of incidents is to be maintained by advising our Customer Care Manager.
- To ensure that all sales staff in 'face to face' contact receive customer relations training.
- To examine monthly / quarterly management accounts to ensure total expenditure does not exceed agreed percentage of gross sales.
- To monitor new and used car stock to ensure launch of new models does not cause discounted sales exceeding agreed percentage of their total value.

Main Job Duties
- To travel to and work at any Chapelhouse branch as required, in order to overview and relieve other Sales Managers.
- To establish the staffing levels required to achieve departmental objectives.
- To select, hire, train and develop sales department staff.
- To identify departmental training needs in conjunction with training staff ensuring resultant training programmes are completed and adequate records maintained.
- Establish and administer 'in-dealership' training as required to cater for new model launches.
- Establish and review sales basic pay and incentive schemes in line with dealership policy.
- Ensure all administration functions, returns, record keeping and clerical operations are carried out at the appropriate time and kept up to date.
- Review with Group General Sales Manager all activities and reporting systems within department.
- Ensure that adequate safety and security procedures exist and are operated.
- Monitor cleanliness of showroom, forecourt sales area and other sales-related areas.
- Maintain good liaison with other managers.
- Advise Group General Sales Manager and all other managers on sales matters.
- Advise subordinates on appropriate sales related matters.
- Maintain direct liaison with manufacturers representatives and all other contacts.
- Propose special sales promotions as appropriate.
- Ensure adequate stock of product display material is available.
- Take a proactive role in merchandising / marketing the company, new and used product and your department.
- Take a proactive role in conducting new car launches and other promotions.
- Analyse local customer / car preference statistics and compare with new and used car forecasts, acting on any anomalies detected.
Experience And Qualifications Required For The Role
Essential
- Must hold a full driving license, free from endorsements and be able to travel between branches as required.
- Sales management and marketing skills, knowledge and experience of the retail motor industry.
- Up-to-date knowledge of vehicle legislation, consumer legislation and of trade practices.
Desirable
- Ability to manage and administer a department, to provide organisation, systems and leadership.
- Able to motivate a sales team to achieve objectives.
