Print Finisher in Stockport

Stockport Full-Time On-site
Chapel Press Ltd

Print Finishing Operator (Cut/Fold/Stitch) - up to Β£35,000 Chapel Press - Stockport Β£30,000 – Β£35,000+ (negotiable, depending on experience)

Chapel Press is a busy commercial print finishing department, running varied work at volume - this isn't a single-machine, repetitive role. We need someone who can move across the finishing floor, rather than run one machine all day.

The role

We're looking for a well-rounded print finisher who can run guillotine/cutting (Polar/Wohlenberg), folding machines (MBO) and stitching machines (Muller). This is a genuinely broad role for someone who can operate confidently across all three.

We'll also consider strong candidates who can run two of the three machines, at a lower rate depending on machine combination and standard.

What separates a good operator from an average one: fast, accurate make-ready with minimal waste, and the judgement to set up and run without needing to be supervised.

A standard day-shift option, for the right candidate

We previously had a multi-skilled finishing operator on a standard day shift who took on responsibility for setting the standard on the finishing floor - quality, pace, and how the job should be done - reporting to our Production Manager. That position is currently open.

If you're an experienced, well-rounded operator who'd value coming off double-days permanently in exchange for taking on that standard-setting role, we'd like to hear from you. This isn't a given for every applicant - it depends on finding the right person - but it's a genuine option worth raising at interview if it interests you.

Shift pattern

This role is double-day shifts, Monday to Friday:

  • 6:30am – 2:00pm, or
  • 2:00pm – 9:30pm

Overtime is regularly available on top, paid at a premium rate. A standard day-shift option exists for the right candidate - see above.

What we're looking for

  • Solid working knowledge of commercial print finishing
  • Confident running a guillotine (Polar/Wohlenberg), MBO folder and Muller stitching machine
  • Strong candidates with two of these three skills will also be considered, at a lower rate
  • Reliable, accurate, and able to work to production deadlines

Pay and benefits

  • Β£30,000 – Β£35,000+ for a cut/fold/stitch operator, negotiable depending on experience
  • Candidates would be considered with two of the three skills at a lower rate (verified at interview)
  • Overtime paid at premium rate when available
  • Full-time, permanent position
