Position Information
This role is for the BRAND NEW Chantecaille counter at Peter Jones, which is part of the John Lewis Partnership. It is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will manage a full-time Beauty Consultant.
The Counter Manager is responsible for ensuring the counter and team consistently meet and exceed company-set goals. Through effective coaching and development, they will ensure each team member achieves their individual KPI targets. The Counter Manager is accountable for the smooth day-to-day operation of the counter and for making sure all team members understand and work toward sales, service, and KPI expectations. They will also be responsible for ongoing training and development to support performance and growth.
Responsibilities
- Customer service and performance: Achieve the targets set by the company as communicated by the Area Manager with respect to items per transaction, average sale value, and mix of business; deliver the highest level of service to ensure every customer has an excellent experience at the counter.
- Maximise sales performance and productivity: Take overall accountability for achievement of all business goals and sales & service targets; demonstrate excellent selling skills as a role model; clearly communicate KPI targets to the team; coach, motivate, and develop the team to achieve goals; monitor competitor activity and discuss with the Area Manager; seek new sales opportunities inside and outside the store.
- Team management: Monitor team performance against KPIs; set goals and remedial actions; build collaborative relationships with Area Manager and Head Office; delegate tasks; run informative and motivational meetings; reinforce company information; coach and develop individuals; ensure good timekeeping and attendance; identify staffing succession and development plans.
- Communication and working relationships: Communicate regularly with the Area Manager; conduct regular team communications about targets, initiatives and activities; build relationships with store management teams.
- Events: Create and organise counter events to drive business; ensure events are prepared in advance with stock, display, rotas, gifts; execute events according to marketing guidelines; strive to exceed event targets; provide post-event feedback to Area Manager/Head Office.
- Stock and inventory management: Assist with daily stock and hygiene supplies replenishment; rotate stock properly; monitor stock levels and highlight issues to the Area Manager to ensure adequate stock for sales targets.
- Maintain work environment: Clean display units and testers; maintain a clean and organized work area; ensure proper placement and condition of merchandise; inform management of any maintenance, health and safety issues, hazards, or accidents; ensure grooming standards and Chantecaille image are maintained; keep counters and testers tidy at all times.
- Teamwork: Undertake tasks as directed by the Area Manager; work with the team to ensure efficient store operation; provide excellent internal customer service; be punctual; stay informed about products and company/store information; participate in training.
- Administration: Complete reports and paperwork by deadlines; maintain forms on company iPad; ensure scheduling and rotas support sales/KPIs; analyse business areas to anticipate challenges and coordinate activity with the Area Manager.
- Image: Maintain personal grooming and hygiene standards; ensure counter and displays align with the Chantecaille image.
