Channing Junior School is seeking a Teaching Assistant to begin work in September 2026. The role involves working closely with Form Teachers and Specialist Teachers to support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development, creating a positive learning environment, assisting in the delivery of learning activities and supporting individual pupils and small groups. The successful candidate will be caring, proactive, highly motivated and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the academic, social and emotional development of pupils.
  • Create a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Assist with the delivery of learning activities.
  • Provide support for individual pupils and small groups.
  • Ensure every child feels confident, secure and motivated to learn.

Qualifications

  • Experience working within a primary school setting (desirable).
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification in Childcare and Education, or willingness to obtain it within the first year of employment, funded by the school.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues and to work effectively as part of a team.

Working Hours

  • Full‑time, permanent. Monday to Friday, term time only plus INSET days.
  • Standard working hours: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.
  • One day per week: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
  • One day per week: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm.
  • One day per week: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm.

Start date: September 2026.

Salary and Benefits

  • Annual salary of £28,329 – £31,599, dependent on experience and qualifications.
