We are looking for a Category Manager to join our team. To provide a full and complete service in terms of Merchandising and Range Events - Planograms Management for the Society with specific responsibility for the FRTS range but working closely to support the Local Manager & Team with local, UK & Internationally sourced products to ensure that all products are appropriately merchandised according to the Society’s guidelines. The role will include managing the processes for Range, Planograms, Initial Pricing and Margin, reviewing, and improving waste and availability.
Duties will include:
- Direct accountability for managing the range that the Society sources from FRTS, including data admin, merchandising, and planograms.
- Dual responsibility (with operations) for managing FRTS & Non FRTS waste and availability effectively and efficiently.
- Requirement to work with Local Category Manager to issue plans for products sourced from Local, International and UK suppliers.

- Broad understanding of the business and the broader cooperative movement.
- Good level of business and financial acumen.
- Ability to analyze the internal and external environment for data and trends and action the information.
- Consults, collaborates and communicates effectively.
- Ability to ensure that transactional aspects of the role are well executed in a fast-moving, changing working environment.
- Ability to work cross-functionally both within the Trading Team and across the Retail Estate.
- A pro-active nature with a willingness to investigate problems and suggest solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
- Able to work with minimum supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
