Overview
Are you outgoing? Friendly? Enjoy liaising with customers? If so then we have an exciting opportunity for you to work on our busy Strood Service reception. You will be the first point of contact for customers booking and bringing in their vehicles for service, repair and maintenance. This is a temporary part‑time role to cover maternity leave.
Key Responsibilities
- Greeting customers on arrival
- Answering the telephone
- Taking vehicle bookings
- Creating and managing service plans
- Booking services and loading work plan
- Dealing with customers face‑to‑face and on the telephone
- Liaising with Workshop control
- Updating customers on vehicle progress
- Obtaining authority and appropriate order numbers for work to be carried out
- Authorising breakdowns
- Creating jobs via computer, loading appropriate tasks
- Assigning courtesy vehicles and checking them in and out
- Undertaking off‑site manufacturer training and online training
Essential Qualities
- Experience of dealing with customers both on the telephone and face‑to‑face
- Administration skills
- PC literate in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Email
- Excellent communication skills including face‑to‑face and telephone
- Confidence and ability to liaise with all levels of people including customers, other staff, managers and directors
- Ability to manage conflicting demands
- Ability to manage a lot of information at once and work well under pressure
- Problem solving skills
- Excellent organisational and planning/scheduling skills
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to build a rapport with customers and handle difficult situations

Desirable Qualities
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above
- Experience/knowledge of Kerridge (although full training will be given)
- A basic understanding of vehicle terminology
