Department Description: Audience Insight are trusted thought-leaders bringing expert strategy, policy, market & audience insight - challenging and advising the business to drive delivery of Channel 4’s strategy and remit. The purpose of the new centralised Audience Insights is to be independent thought leaders at the heart of Channel 4’s creative and commercial decision-making, bringing a single source of truth and big picture perspective, challenging and advising the business to ensure profitable business growth through the use of data.

Job Purpose: The Web Analytics Implementation Analyst ensures Channel 4’s digital products (web, mobile apps, games consoles and TV/set-top box experiences) are accurately and consistently instrumented so that behaviours can be measured and understood. The role translates business and product questions into clear tracking specifications, supports high-quality implementation across platforms, and maintains the documentation and quality assurance needed for trustworthy reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate prioritised business requirements into technical tracking specifications and data-layer contracts based on Channel 4 standards and industry good practice, maintaining versioned specifications and change logs.
  • Work alongside development teams and agencies to support implementation of Adobe Analytics across websites, mobile applications (iOS/Android), consoles, television set-top boxes and others.
  • Coordinate third-party and agency teams, where required, to ensure tracking solutions meet governed reporting requirements and agreed quality standards.
  • Provide oversight of testing and quality assurance for tracking implementations, including network/payload checks and source-to-report validation.
  • Own the change log, release note process for analytics tracking across environments (Dev → Test → Prod), ensuring traceability from specification to deployment and reporting impact.
  • Create and manage robust technical documentation, providing clear end to end process, change and support logs.
  • Develop reporting to provide insights and help answer business-critical questions using Channel 4’s tools and governed datasets.
  • Report delivery progress clearly and operate within agreed project practices, documentation discipline and release/change management.
  • Provide concise delivery updates covering scope, risks, decisions and change impacts.
  • Collaborate with Report Developers and Power BI model developers to reflect tracking changes in measures, definitions and certified datasets, maintaining KPI consistency and reuse of governed models.
  • Work closely with Technology BI and Data Engineering on data readiness, refresh reliability and smooth promotion across environments.
  • Share knowledge and support colleagues through guides, show-and-tells and day-to-day collaboration to raise consistency and quality.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience implementing and administering web/app tracking tools such as Adobe Analytics, mParticle, or similar.
  • Strong HTML and JavaScript knowledge for specifying and validating tracking behaviour.
  • Experience of the full project life-cycle (analysis, design, build, test, deployment) and working to tight deadlines with multiple priorities.
  • Experience specifying tracking across multiple platforms (web, iOS, Android, set-top boxes, Smart TV, PlayStation, Xbox).
  • Ability to work closely with third-party technical agencies to ensure tracking meets reporting needs.
  • Diligence and attention to detail; experience using advanced Adobe Analytics features.
  • Evidence of documentation discipline and release/change management.
  • Clear collaboration with Technology BI, Data Engineering and reporting teams to align inputs, models and definitions.

Desirable:

  • Ability to write SQL for validation and reconciliation.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Business Objects and Oracle relational databases.
  • Familiarity with Big Data technologies and infrastructure such as Hadoop, Hive and Amazon Web Services.
  • Familiarity with other tracking technologies such as MVT products, survey tools or session tracking tools.
  • Awareness of CMS tools and programming languages.
  • Knowledge of additional Adobe Marketing Cloud products.
