We can only ever be as good as our people and the People Team makes sure we have the very best. Talent and Learning and Internal Communications sit within the People Team and are specialist Centres of Excellence. They look after Recruitment, Talent Management, Performance Management, Learning and Development and Internal Communications. The Talent Acquisition team looks after all the recruitment and talent activities, while the small L&D team looks after the rest of talent development activities. The Internal Communications team looks after the Leadership Group events, all‐staff briefings and communications as well as internal communications media. The teams work across all the business areas, and provide support to the People Business Partners to ensure that our people are supported, developed and engaged to enable the channel to continue delivering on its remit.

This role is instrumental in providing a high level of administrative and sighted‐assistance support to the Head of Talent and Learning, as well as digital, systems and administrative support to the Talent Acquisition, Learning and Internal Communications teams. The Assistant will need to be passionate about digital accessibility, using social media for talent attraction and the latest learning systems, as well as support for internal communications media such as our intranet and Viva Engage, providing an exceptional service to the People team, C4 People Managers and C4 employees, and be comfortable working on a wide range of activities that cover all aspects of the Talent and Learning remit.

This role would suit someone looking to progress their career in HR, while gaining experience in three key specialist areas. It requires a highly organised person who is keen to learn and enjoys variety in their role. You will need to be comfortable dealing with multiple tasks and having a busy workload which requires constant prioritisation. Training will be provided but it is essential to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, have excellent Microsoft Office skills and be very comfortable working with systems and data.

  • Sighted‐assistance and support to the Head of Talent and Learning
  • Assistance accessing systems which require sight and are not immediately accessible
  • Helping to format documents so they are visually appealing
  • Assistance with interpreting visual products, such as videos etc.
  • Help getting to and from meeting rooms if necessary
  • Help booking access to work transport
  • Sighted guidance outside the office to attend conferences

These activities may well involve confidential company and personal information and therefore a high level of trust will be placed in the post holder. This type of support requires physical co‐location and therefore the post‐holder needs to be in the office at the same time as the Head of Talent and Learning.

Personal Assistance to the Head of Talent and Learning and the Head of Internal Communications includes diary management, producing high-quality PowerPoint slides for presentation, and arranging meetings and/or focus groups, including Leadership Group meetings.

Provide Super‐user expertise in the management of Cornerstone: the Assistant will be involved in virtually every aspect of the LMS. Ongoing maintenance and support, providing technical support, reviewing content, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the administration of virtual and face-to-face learning.

Ad‐hoc training support includes coordination and administration of other ad‐hoc programmes, such as I&D Programmes, mentoring, coaching apprenticeships, and support for leadership programmes.

Talent Acquisition Team Support involves booking rooms, preparing interview schedules, issuing supporting paperwork, managing the recruitment inbox, creating job descriptions and job adverts on LinkedIn, and assisting with social media posts across Talent and Learning.

Specific support to the Internal Communications team includes drafting simple communications for internal events, booking rooms, managing invitations, and assistance with internal social media activities.

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Prior experience as an Administrator or Assistant.
  • Understands the confidential nature of the work and can adhere to C4's information security and GDPR requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent level Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint but also Word, Excel and Outlook).

Desirable Experience & Skills:

  • Great customer service skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Understand when to work at pace and when there is a need for sense of urgency.
  • Operates well and is comfortable with ambiguity/change.
