JOB PURPOSE
The Marketing Data and Technology Lead is responsible for Marketing and Media’s relationship with the Technology and Data functions within Channel 4. They lead on development and adoption of new marketing technology capabilities, working closely with the media agency, digital platforms and the digital marketing team. They support the Director, Media & Effectiveness in all data governance and compliance matters relating to marketing activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Day to day responsibility for Marketing and Media’s relationship with Technology function
- Oversees all tech tooling utilised and supports teams with any escalated issues
- Review any new technology products and work with teams to develop business cases for adoption where appropriate
- MarTech Connectivity and Capabilities
- Owns tech and data relationship with media partners
- Partners with agency to develop new digital media targeting and attribution capabilities
- Works closely with Product inc SEO to ensure Marketing and Media are considered in platform development
- Advises Digital Marketing on best practice re: marketing technology utilisation
- Data Governance
- Lead contact for Marketing & Media with Channel 4 Data function
- Support the Director, Media & Effectiveness on Data usage and governance with Legal and Policy
- Work with Analytics, BI and media agency to create data-based solutions to support Marketing and Media teams – e.g. campaign dashboards
- Advises Marketing Effectiveness squad on attribution and measurement tooling
- Leads on Marketing and Media’s adoption of AI tools and represents at AI Steering Group
- Partners with 4Creative to develop creative tech solutions that can streamline asset production and unlock media efficiencies
- Actively seeks new advances in technology that can drive Channel 4 Marketing and Media strategy
CONNECTIONS
The Marketing Data and Technology Lead will report into the Director, Media & Effectiveness and has no direct reports. They will work closely with the Digital Marketing team, Head of Marketing for Streaming, Digital & Partnerships, Creative Innovation Director, Analytics team, media agency. Across the business, the role will interact regularly with senior stakeholders from the following areas outside of Media, Marketing and 4Creative: Technology; Legal; Sales; Strategy; Finance;
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Experience managing or significantly contributing to a Martech ecosystem.
- Understanding of programmatic advertising, DSPs, CAPI, paid social and search platforms and how data flows between ad tech and marketing systems.
- Hands on experience working with CDPs (mParticle / Mediarithmics), DAMs (Bynder) and data warehouses.
- Vendor management and the ability to evaluate and onboard new technology.
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders and shaping how data and technology capability is used across a marketing function.
- Able to build a roadmap, prioritise investment, and make a case for change.
- Ability to translate between business needs and technical requirements in both directions.
- Experience working across marketing, technology, product, and data teams — acting as a bridge between marketing stakeholders and technical functions.
- Confident and curious, with the ability to stay on top of a highly varied and broad workload whilst seeking out new opportunities to add value.
