The Ad Operations team is responsible for the creation and delivery of maximum revenue across all delivery methods of viewing across C4’s Sales portfolio. The team is required to deliver exceptional levels of service to Sales and our customers, in addition to conceiving and executing innovative methods of creating value through systems, working practices and new trading opportunities.
The Inventory & Analysis team is specifically responsible for business modelling and detailed reporting across both VoD and Linear inventory at Channel 4 Sales, leading the strategy for inventory product mix to maximise and increase yields across the C4 portfolio. The monitoring and proactive control of the on-going delivery of agency deals, from both a cost and quality perspective, is essential to maximising revenue for Channel 4 and maintaining constructive relationships with agencies and advertisers.
JOB PURPOSE
Channel 4 Inventory & Analysis is responsible for providing reporting solutions to the Commercial team. This includes designing, building and maintaining Excel models and Power BI based reports. Further to this, I&A provide key insights to inform business decisions with a specialist understanding of the data in order to ensure the reporting is meaningful and impactful.
We therefore require a commercial analyst with good knowledge of the 4Sales business to work within the I&A team on all reporting requirements. This will involve the end to end analytics process from gathering requirements, working closely with our business intelligence team to deliver robust data models, collaborating on the design and development of reports and managing enhancement requests. This includes understanding our data in detail, implementing new reports, training report users and maintaining existing reporting solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the Inventory & Yield Managers to create and maintain our suite of reports in Power BI, Excel models and bespoke reporting dashboards used for the management of inventory and deal management.
- Be the go-to point of contact within the Commercial team for reporting queries in terms of design, build, implementation and training.
- Using latest visualisation and interactive software to present the data clearly and impactfully.
- Always looking to evolve reporting, audit existing ones and create new ways to make reporting more relevant and useful for all commercial teams.
- Communicate latest reporting developments to wider stakeholders, escalating issues to I&Y Lead and reporting to stakeholders, ensuring analysis is accurate and consistent.
- Train and empower other members of the Commercial team to contribute to projects defined by the broad commercial remit keeping best practice front of mind.
- Use domain knowledge and attention to detail to ensure reporting accuracy and consistency across reporting solutions to build confidence in user experience.
- Support people to learn, develop new tools and improve ways of reporting and consuming data analytics at 4Sales.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Intermediate user experience of both Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
- Enthusiastic proactive approach and can do attitude to tackle complex business problems.
- Sense of urgency in responding to queries from the broader commercial team, with a naturally inquisitive mind.
- Understanding of change management and supporting change through the development of new business processes and reports.
- Good communication skills both written, verbal and presenting to groups.
- Experience of working in Advertising, demonstrating an understanding of the reporting needs of a Commercial Sales team.
- Cultivates a positive working environment by being a helpful and considerate team member who always supports their colleagues.
- Curious and comfortable with adapting as projects evolve and work to deadlines.

- Advanced Power platform experience in Power BI, Power Apps, Flow and Forms.
- Thorough experience of TV and VoD advertising trading, selling and booking end to end process.
- Understanding of functions on Stellar or similar Airtime Sales systems.
