Department Description
Channel 4’s Finance department acts as a trusted advisor to the business, supporting decision making through insightful analysis, expert opinion, and timely, accurate reporting. We aim to ensure the sustainability of Channel 4 through strong financial controls and compliance.
Job Purpose
The SFM – Group Reporting & Control role, within Group Finance, leads a team of 15 responsible for supporting financial discipline, internal and external reporting, and continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end audit and Annual Report process, including reviewing accounting issues, overseeing deliverables, working with auditors, and updating stakeholders.
- Manage external reporting requirements, including financial and regulatory submissions to government agencies and regulators.
- Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts and provide technical accounting advice.
- Ensure compliance with sustainability and climate change reporting requirements, supporting the embedding of C4’s climate strategy.
- Support financial analysis and group performance reporting, including cash flow, capex, and covenant monitoring.
Management Accounting
- Develop efficient month-end reporting processes, leading the finance teams to standardize and automate where possible.
- Oversee consolidation and performance reporting to the Board and Executive.
- Monitor key control processes and act as a subject matter expert on control requirements and systems transformation.
Systems Transformation
- Develop reporting and control requirements for new systems, review business readiness, and identify process improvements.
People Leadership
- Foster a learning culture, support team development, and attract diverse talent.
- Set clear expectations and empower the team for success.
Hybrid Working
From September 2023, employees will work a minimum of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home, with potential for up to 10 days remote work. Adjustments will be communicated in advance.
