JOB PURPOSE
As C4 embarks on our Fast Forward strategy and the Finance function is realigned to best serve the business, the Commercial Finance function has been created which comprises the FP&A team, in addition to dedicated Finance Business Partners aligned to the C4 strategic business pillars, to provide a centralised planning and analysis function. The FP&A team is a critical part of the Finance Function, working closely with all of the Business Partnering teams as well as the Group Reporting function to actively manage our financial performance and the planning cycle. We have also identified a need for an individual to provide additional support with internal and external reporting requirements.
This role is accountable for pulling together material in preparation for key meetings, briefing the CFO & Finance Director as necessary. The role will focus on all corporate metrics and reporting – working closely with the insight team and other teams as required such as the People Team to ensure we are reporting accurately and on a timely basis to the relevant committees.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare high-quality presentations, reports, and briefing materials for the CFO, executive leadership team, and Board of Directors, including:
- Lead on the co-ordination of materials for Board meetings as needed by the CFO, ensuring agendas, materials, and follow-ups are effectively handled.
- Co-ordinate finance input into RemCo, ARC & Board Presentations.
- Prepare comprehensive briefing notes and Q&A for key presentations to board, Audit and RemCo for the CFO.
- Own the agenda for the CFO section at the weekly CEOC/Exec meetings and prepare materials in advance of those sessions, consolidating and co-ordinating inputs from the finance, insight and people teams as required.
- Support on Annual Report Q&As alongside the Group Finance team.
- Support on preparation of budgeting, 3YP and forecasting documents which are handled by different team members.
- Liaise with the internal comms team to provide commentary and supporting materials on financial and corporate KPI targets for SLT meetings and ‘All Hands’ staff briefings.
- Produce the monthly performance pack, co-ordinating inputs from across the business on financial and operational performance.
- In partnership with finance, insight and other teams, streamline and rationalise KPI reporting to ensure that management information produced is fit for purpose - consistent, automated wherever possible and relevant to C4’s strategic objective.
- Co-ordinate QBR process in partnership with EPMO, Finance and Insights.
- Build out key MI reports for headcount and other key metrics, including self-service dashboards where possible eg using Power BI.
- Design headcount tracking to monitor progress against budget savings/restructuring targets.
- Work with CFO, Director and Insights Team to operationalise the agreed hierarchy of KPI’s for Channel 4 to track at a board, strategic and operational level.
- Support the provision of quality performance reporting in specific functions where required, examples include automated content efficiency metrics, performance packs for the Content Investment Fund companies, and non-ad revenue reporting.
- Standardize templates, definitions, and KPI logic, ensuring that there is ‘one source of truth’.
- Champion the standardisation and automation of reporting across the finance function.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Experience in investor relations preferred or supporting with writing documents for senior leaders.
- Able to simplify language & summarise concisely the key points.
- Strong command of business language.
- Attention to detail & high standard of presentation.
- Superb MS Office skills: PowerPoint, Word, Excel – able to work at speed.
- Qualified accountant preferred.
- Able to work at pace and respond to the changing needs of the CFO, Director of Finance.
- Able to build great working relationships within the finance function as well as across other ‘enabling’ functions such as People and Insight team.
- Excellent financial analysis and modelling skills (Advanced Excel skills, experience of data visualisation tools eg Power BI).
- Excellent organisational skills & able to prioritise effectively.
- Strong analytical skills; with the ability to flex between the big picture and detail.
- High levels of personal credibility, professionalism and ethical standards.
- Self-starter with ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.
- Be committed to, and aligned with, the Channel 4 remit.
