Programme Overview

The C4 Apprenticeship Programme offers a full‑time opportunity to gain work experience and a formal qualification. Apprentices spend four days a week working in a C4 department and one day completing apprenticeship training. You’ll work 60% from your office base and 40% from home.

Eligibility

  • You must be 18 years old or over at the time the scheme starts. There is no upper age limit.
  • You’ll need to have a Grade C (4) or above in Maths & English GCSE.
  • You can’t have already completed the qualification being offered or a similar one at the same or higher level.
  • Apprenticeships are aimed at school leavers and people without a degree. If you have a degree, please visit the Channel 4 Jobs website.
  • The programme aims to offer opportunities to those underrepresented in the TV industry, especially Deaf and/or disabled people, ethnically diverse people, and people from lower socio‑economic groups.

Department Description

The Finance department provides financial support and advice to ensure Channel 4’s advertising revenue drives our public service, creative and commercial ambitions. Finance works with all organisational areas, offering guidance on financial reporting, investments and general finance matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business support
  • Prepare invoice logs
  • Check and code invoices
  • Assist in tracking deals for programme spend
  • Assist with cash management processes

Management Reporting

  • Support the Management Accountant with month‑end overhead adjustments
  • Support the Management Accountant with month‑end transmission cost processing
  • Understand spend and explain variances to budget
  • Take on ad‑hoc project work with the FP&A and Business Assurance Team

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience dealing with customers or working in a team, writing emails, completing applications, etc.
  • Attention to detail – e.g., cashing up on tills or proofreading coursework.
  • Organisation skills and ability to prioritise tasks – e.g., planning events, managing work‑life balance while studying.
  • An understanding of and a passion for Channel 4’s remit
  • Confirm you have Maths & English GCSE Grade C (4) or above
  • Good working understanding of Excel
  • Strong numeracy skills

Salary

Basic salary per annum starting from ÂŁ26,742.00

Hybrid Working

From September 2023, C4 operates a 60/40 working pattern: three office days a week (for collaboration and culture), with the rest of the week at home. All our offices are open five days a week.
