We work very closely with key people and departments within C4 including 4Studio, Linear Commissioning teams and 4Sales. JOB PURPOSE Channel 4 is a world class entertainment brand and the Digital Commissioning team are responsible for further building our world class social media presence. We are looking for a very hungry, versatile, creative Digital Commissioning Exec to help develop, pitch and win briefs, commission indies and have creative oversight over a world-class slate of content in the Branded Entertainment space. You will be someone who absolutely loves and ‘gets’ social whilst also understanding how to create for the wider Channel 4 digital network, ensuring our commercial projects live and breathe C4 values. We need a confident unflappable speaker, there will be no shortage of in person pitches in this role and you will be required to be highly proficient in articulating our brands, talent and shows, with energy, passion and expert knowledge. Ensure content is quality compliant and that commissions demonstrate value for money, quality and originality. Compliance, rights and legalities won’t scare you and you’ll be driven by generating bold creative (and on brief) ideas to help ensure our ad-funded content is constantly engaging audiences with C4 online. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Commission and executive produce digital programmes across branded projects, ensuring they are delivered in accordance with the agreed editorial specification. Work with the independent indie sector in generating brilliant multi genre digital originals in line with department strategy. Work with 4Studio and external suppliers to develop proactive and responsive Branded Entertainment ideas for social, and lead on these commissions. Collaborate with the Sales and Strategy team to generate first class responses and ideas for brand briefs. To clearly pitch and back an idea to clients and internal stakeholders. Give concise editorial notes and feed learnings and opportunities back to suppliers; challenging them to think creatively and boldly. Deliver content on budget, on schedule and to the expected standard. Ensure that content is produced to Channel 4’s Editorial Guidelines. Oversee the legalities, duty of care and covid protocols for your commissions. Develop effective working relationships with other departments in the Channel e.g. legal and compliance, marketing, press, scheduling etc. Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with the key independent production companies and proactively seek new supplier partnerships in the Branded Entertainment space. ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS A digital/creative native and/or experienced development senior, series producer, executive producer or commissioner with experience of producing digital and multiplatform content. Ability to work across many genres. Knowledge of social platforms and their different audiences – along with technical delivery of non-linear content. Knowledge of new talent on Social. Experience working with brands and/or agencies. Experience of managing a large volume of creative ideas and briefs/pitches. Experience working with brands and complex projects. Strong relationships and contacts in the indie sector. Ability to act decisively and see projects through from inception to completion, problem solve, and multi-task under time constraints and pressure Ability to identify and generate outstanding and innovative ideas that connect with global audience A problem solver. Ability to understand a creative challenge and pick apart a brief to generate a great idea! Excellent written and verbal communication skills The Digital Commissioning team are based across the UK, so the ability to work effectively with team members across the country is a must. Experience with the legal and duty of care issues involved in content creation Talent and agent relationships Experience working with finance teams and an awareness of budgeting DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & SKILLS Mid-senior level TV or streaming production or development experience Hybrid Working From September 2023 employees will be working minimum 3 days per week in their office location. The other 2 days should be working from home. This is to create more time for collaboration, creativity, learning and feedback. We also have a working from another location policy for up to 10 days. This pattern is subject to future changes which would be communicated in advance to provide employees with adequate notice of any change.
