Channel 4 technology is currently undergoing a transformation programme, which has involved restructuring the department, services, and practices within the wider business. As part of this programme, Channel 4 has outsourced and consolidated several IT service providers, alongside internal improvements in business engagement and support activities.
Job Purpose
Working within a dedicated IT Service Management team, the Change, Release & Problem Management Assurance Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all changes, releases, and problems across the Channel 4 environment. The role acts as a central point of contact between Channel 4 teams and our service suppliers, aiming to mature practices and serve as an escalation point for intervention when needed. The role ensures that change initiatives deliver targeted benefits and are embedded for the future, overseeing governance rather than execution.
Key Requirements
- Maturing operational Change, Release, and Problem Management processes
- Embedding governance across the entire Channel 4 estate, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams
- Enabling management across waterfall and Agile methodologies
- Championing processes and managing integration with wider operations
Responsibilities
- Accountable for strategy, processes, and tooling for Change, Release, and Problem Management
- Collaborating with suppliers to improve governance practices
- Creating a unified view of activities across all technology verticals
- Handling operational escalations and driving continual improvement
- Working with suppliers to assure activities and provide feedback
- Embedding processes across Channel 4
- Building and delivering training on management processes
- Managing service improvement programmes
- Communicating effectively during planning and rollout phases
- Leading problem review meetings and post-incident reviews
- Protecting live environment using formal release procedures
- Developing governance processes aligned with policies
- Managing acceptance into service governance
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in managing Change, Release, and Problem Management in large programmes
- Experience with tools like ServiceNow and Jira Software
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in root cause analysis and permanent solutions
- Facilitation skills and ability to influence
- Relationship-building skills
- Strategic thinking for framework development
- Organizational and project management skills
- ITIL V3 foundation (minimum), V4 desirable
- Experience with Agile frameworks like Scaled Agile, Kanban, Scrum

Starting from £67,813.00 per annum
