Job Purpose
We are looking for a commercially-minded Assistant to join our Sales team. This role ensures campaigns—across both linear and digital platforms—are delivered smoothly, accurately, and in line with agreed terms and available inventory.
Based in Manchester, you’ll be at the heart of the action—building relationships and spotting exciting sales opportunities. If you’re a natural communicator who loves connecting with people and thrives in a fast-paced environment, this could be your perfect next step.
Key Responsibilities
- Process campaign requests and ensure campaigns are set up, booked and delivered.
- Ensure spots are scheduled efficiently, in line with deal parameters and in accordance with company and industry guidelines and regulations.
- Monitor campaigns daily to ensure deals are delivered and airtime is optimised.
- Respond to ongoing agency requests and queries relating to linear and digital airtime.
- Support Account Executives and others in maintaining agency relationships.
- Ensure traffic deadlines are met.
- Run day-to-day administrative systems and provide procedural support to the rest of the Account Team.
- Support Account Executives in administering select parameters on Channel 4 and, where appropriate, Channel 4’s digital channels, VOD platform and third party trading partners.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Understanding and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel up to an intermediate standard.
- Good negotiating and sales skills.
- Knowledge of the Account Team’s portfolio.
Autonomy/Judgement/Decision Making
- Must be able to work with little supervision within guidelines.
- Seeks guidance for problems such as continuing agency conflict, significant changes to campaigns and late sales or problems outside guidelines.
- Judgement on placing ads responsibly according to industry regulations and guidelines.
Relationship Management
- Able to develop good external and internal relationships; essential to maintain open and communicative relationships with all stakeholders.
- Act as a point of contact for all agency airtime problems and issues in a client-facing role.
Complexity/Problem Solving
- Balance customer relationships with maximising Channel 4’s capacity.
- Resolve day-to-day trading issues with partners, involving the Account Executive, Account Manager, AV HUB Managers, Senior Account Lead and Account Leader as appropriate.
- Resolve day-to-day internal issues of schedule changes, optimising airtime and creating inventory for late sales.
- Monitor campaigns for delivery accuracy versus terms; optimise inventory with minimal wastage.
- Time management and prioritising tasks to meet strict deadlines.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Experience of working in a sales or customer service environment.
- Excellent numerical ability.
- Intermediate Excel skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience of building relationships quickly and working to deadlines.
Desirable Experience & Skills
- Negotiation skills.
- Experience of working within TV/VOD sales.
- Awareness of industry guidelines and regulations (OFCOM, BCAP, Clearcast).
Salary
Basic salary per annum starting from £27,125.00

Working Pattern
Hybrid working: From September 2023, Channel 4 operates a 60/40 pattern (three office days per week). Offices are open five days a week.
