If you are looking for an opportunity to gain work experience and a qualification, then an apprenticeship at Channel 4 might be for you. Our Apprenticeships are full-time, with four days per week spent working in a C4 department and one day per week completing the formal learning parts of the apprenticeship. You’ll spend 60% of your working week in your office base and 40% working from home.
The formal training provided will consist of workshops, tutorials, webinars, coaching and in some cases residential boot camps. The programme aims to offer opportunities to those currently underrepresented in the TV industry, so we are particularly keen to hear from Deaf and/or disabled people, ethnically diverse people and people from lower socio-economic groups.
AM I ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
- You must be 18 years old or over at the time the scheme starts to apply. There is no upper age limit.
- You’ll need to have a Grade C (4) or above in Maths & English GCSE.
- You can’t have already completed the qualification being offered or similar at the same or higher level.
- Our apprenticeships are aimed at school leavers and people who do not have a degree.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
4Studio is the home of social media content at Channel 4. This includes content that we make about, and with our TV shows and talent, content we make with our favourite brands and sponsors, or original content for social media audiences. We also distribute and manage this content across over 100 different accounts.
The primary activities of 4Studio will be to curate (existing) and create (new) short-form content and distribute it through actively managed social media channels. The Social Media Apprentices will work very closely with key people and departments within C4 and on occasion with external stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
- Working closely with the channels teams to coordinate, manage and build Channel 4’s social media presence across Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Spotify, Snapchat and TikTok - predominantly to drive views on our content.
- Learning about the production process from idea to publication. This might include briefing in of assets, editing videos, coming up with ideas or writing copy for social posts.
- Creating content for publication including videos, images or thumbnails.
- Managing calendar of key cultural moments and events that the social team should be engaging with and generating ideas (i.e. National Best Friend Day, Halloween etc.)
- Reviewing content and how it is performing - assisting with testing and reporting.
- Assisting with day-to-day administrative and ad hoc tasks as required.
- Analysing competitors and other key players’ social channels.
- Building and maintaining good relationships with internal departments and external partners.
- Community management and engaging with C4 audiences online around our content.
- Keeping up to date with social media trends and contributing ideas back to your team.
