The Role
We are looking for an experienced consultant with training lead experience to design and execute the end‑to‑end training approach for the Digital Health Protection Programme (DHPP) at Public Health Wales, a first‑of‑type national rollout of a new digital health protection system. This is a delivery‑focused role for an initial period of 6 months minimum, owning the training model from collateral creation through to face‑to‑face and virtual delivery, completion tracking and programme reporting. You will work in partnership with the programme team and a network of regional stakeholders to ensure that staff across Wales are confident and competent ahead of go‑live.
What would be expected of me as the Training Lead?
- Project Delivery
- Leading workstreams or supporting engagements of varying scale and complexity.
- Taking a key role in preparation and delivery of client workshops, meetings and presentations.
- Ensuring all deliverables produced meet or exceed client expectations.
- Client Engagement
- Developing and nurturing key client relationships.
- Managing stakeholder expectations proactively.
- Communicating confidently and effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Training SME
- Owning and executing the end‑to‑end training model for the DHPP rollout, covering system training, scheduling, delivery and assurance of competence ahead of go‑live.
- Delivering engaging role‑based training through face‑to‑face and virtual classroom sessions for clinical and operational staff.
- Ensuring all training deliverables meet or exceed programme and client expectations as a first‑of‑type national system rollout.
- Creating and maintaining a full suite of training collateral, including user guides, quick reference materials and supporting documentation.
- Designing and building eLearning modules and digital learning content for self‑paced study at scale.
- Ensuring all materials are accessible, consistent and credible with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Planning, Tracking & Reporting
- Building and managing training schedules across cohorts, sites and delivery channels in line with the programme plan.
- Tracking training completion and competence, maintaining accurate records and chasing outstanding actions to keep delivery on track.
- Providing clear programme reporting on training progress, risks and issues to programme leadership and governance forums.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Ways of Working
- Working in partnership with regional stakeholders and SME representatives to plan and coordinate training across sites.
- Managing stakeholder expectations proactively and communicating confidently with audiences at all levels.
- Recognising changing programme requirements and adapting the training approach as the rollout progresses.
Who would we like to hear from?
The ideal candidate will be an experienced training lead with a track record of delivering training for the rollout of new digital systems, ideally first‑of‑type or national programmes and a passion for helping people adopt new ways of working. In addition, they will have:
- Demonstrable experience as a training lead on a digital system implementation.
- Hands‑on experience designing and delivering system training, including face‑to‑face sessions, virtual delivery and eLearning modules.
- A track record of creating training collateral and guides for technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Experience building and managing training schedules, tracking completion and producing programme reporting.
- A hands‑on approach and the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels and make things happen.
- Highly effective written and oral communication skills and a track record of using influencing skills to achieve desired outcomes.
- Strong ethics and integrity and the ability to act as a role model to others.
- Capability for creating high‑quality, impactful materials that engage all groups, with credibility across technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with NHS or health and care settings.
