The Bid Manager will establish and lead Channel 3’s bid management function, including managing the end-to-end bid process for strategic frameworks and competitive client tenders. The role ensures that bids are well qualified, strategically shaped, and delivered through disciplined governance and high-quality bid writing. The Bid Manager will personally lead and draft priority submissions and provide quality assurance across others to ensure consistency, compliance, and compelling positioning. A key part of the role is building capability across the organisation, equipping colleagues with the skills, tools, and confidence to contribute effectively to bids and strengthening our overall ability to win work.
What would be expected of me as a Bid Manager?
- Bid management
- Own the full bid management process, from opportunity identification through to submission, ensuring timely, compliant, and competitive responses.
- Manage framework responses and renewals, as well as strategic client tenders, coordinating inputs and supporting drafting.
- Track competitive opportunities using bid tracking software; act as Business System Owner for bid management tools and optimise their use.
- Support shaping of bid strategy for major pursuits, ensuring alignment to qualification outcomes, win themes, and client insight.
- Coordinate cross-functional input for major bids, ensuring contributors are clear on requirements, timelines, and expectations.
- Manage opportunity tracking, qualification, and bid governance processes.
- Support the rollout and embedding of new bid management tools and processes in collaboration with senior stakeholders.
- Analyse bid feedback and success rates to refine strategy and improve win ratios.
- Bid writing – for strategic opportunities
- Lead bid kick-offs and win-theme workshops to define differentiators, value propositions, and key messages for the response.
- Run storyboarding sessions to structure responses and align contributors.
- Draft high-quality responses ensuring clarity, compliance, and persuasive positioning.
- Ensure all responses are structured and evidenced in line with published evaluation criteria to maximise scoring potential.
- Provide quality assurance on bids not directly authored, ensuring best practice and consistency.
- Build and maintain a bid knowledge repository, including standard content and boilerplate responses.
- Create and maintain bid collateral, including standardised documents, templates, and visual assets.
- Ensure all collateral reflects brand guidelines and delivery standards.
- Maintain a structured repository for past bid responses, ensuring easy access, version control, and reuse of high-quality content.
- Proactively refresh boilerplate content and case studies to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with current service offerings.
- Training and capability building
- Deliver targeted training on bid management and bid writing for teams.
- Provide in-flight bid coaching and support to improve quality and efficiency.
- Train colleagues on bid management tools and processes.
- Support capability building around social value requirements, including training colleagues to incorporate meaningful, evidence-based commitments into bids.
- Embed consistent bid standards across the business by developing guidance, toolkits, and best practice materials.
- Governance, reporting and team working
- Inputs to and delivers against agreed bid management goals, as set out in Channel 3’s sales & marketing strategy and annual business plan.
- Develops and presents quarterly Bid Management report as an input to Channel 3’s Quarterly Business Review with the extended leadership team.
- Attends weekly Sales Call and monthly Sales Strategy Step Back, as needed.

- Demonstrable track record of contributing to or leading successful bids, with examples of significant wins.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent written communication skills with a focus on clarity, persuasion, and compliance.
- Commercial acumen and understanding of pricing strategies.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships across sales, delivery, and finance teams.
- Experience designing and delivering training or coaching to improve bid management and bid writing capability across teams.
- Ability to upskill non-specialists, providing clear guidance, feedback, and practical techniques to raise organisational capability.
- Strong facilitation skills, with experience running workshops such as bid kick-offs, win-theme sessions, and storyboarding.
- Demonstrated ability to manage upwards, skilfully influencing and securing timely input from senior stakeholders across the business who may not be directly accountable to the bid process.
