Join to apply for the Trustee of primary multi academy trust - Volunteer role at CHANGING LIVES IN COLLABORATION. Make a real difference to the lives of primary school children. Our trustees are from varied professional backgrounds; diversity makes our board strong. We are rooted in our vision - Changing Lives in Collaboration. Together we make the difference.

What difference will you make? As a CLIC trustee you will lead the Trust's vision for high quality and inclusive education, shaping and monitoring our strategic direction. Trustees support and challenge our senior executive leaders to ensure robust oversight of our operations and performance. The Board also has oversight of relationships with stakeholders, including the local tier of school governance, our staff, parents, pupils and communities.

What are we looking for? We are keen to hear from people with knowledge and experience in the fields of HR and finance in particular. However, we welcome applications from people from a wide range of professional backgrounds who are keen to develop their skills with our support. Specifically, knowledge of (or a willingness to learn about) the following key areas is highly valuable:

  • Progress and attainment in education
  • Safeguarding
  • SEND (special educational needs and disability)
  • Finance
  • Staffing/HR
  • Estates management
  • Audit and risk

Trustees need to be able to analyse and understand written reports and data, and question our senior executive leaders. Trustees are critical thinkers, able to evaluate options and make balanced decisions. They are also team players, strong communicators, and advocates for the Trust.

What will you be doing? We are keen that our Board includes people from a wide range of professional backgrounds and lived experiences. We are currently particularly seeking new trustees with knowledge of HR and/or finance, but we are just as keen to hear from people with other skills and experience to ensure we have diverse voices on the Board. New trustees will sit on the Board and one of its two committees. The Curriculum, Standards and Strategic Direction Committee focuses on higher-level scrutiny of progress and attainment data across our schools, looking at trends and considering responses and interventions. The Finance and Resources Committee oversees budgets, staffing, estates, audit and risk. We are keen to appoint trustees who have, or would be interested in developing, experience of chairing. We offer a full induction and ongoing training and support for our trustees from dedicated and approachable staff. In recent months the CLIC Board has been developing its strategy for the next five years, including our ambitions for growth, so this is an exciting time to join us.
