Change Accountancy is delighted to be working with a public sector organisation as they look to appoint an Assistant Management Accountant to their team. Our client is part of a wider network, supporting service users through a range of programmes and initiatives. This is a permanent opportunity offering a salary of £30,000 to £34,000.

Role Overview
The Assistant Management Accountant will support the production of monthly management accounts, assist with month-end processes (including accruals, prepayments, and journals), and help maintain the balance sheet through to trial balance. This role is well suited to someone looking to build on their existing experience and gain greater exposure to the full management accounts cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management reports
- Supporting month-end close processes, including:
- Journals
- Prepayments and accruals
- Assisting with revenue budgeting
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
- Conducting financial analysis
- Assisting with statutory accounts preparation
- Producing ad-hoc reports and supporting project work
Candidate Profile
We are keen to speak with individuals who have begun working with management accounts and are now seeking a role that offers greater ownership and development. Study support is available for those looking to pursue further qualifications.
Key Qualifications and Attributes:
- Previous experience as an Assistant Accountant or Accounts Assistant with exposure to month-end duties
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables)
- Experience with finance systems such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar
