Change Accountancy and Finance are delighted to be working with a leading technology organisation, based in the heart of Glasgow, to recruit a Senior Accountant to their team. Joining an expanding team, with an innovative product, the role will be responsible for supporting the Head of Finance in month end close, reporting and wider process improvement as the business continues to grow and scale from its Glasgow base.
A recognised accountancy qualification is requested for this role as well as post-qualifying experience, balancing hands-on accounts delivery with the review of other staff members' work. Applicants for the role will be comfortable working in a controls environment and picking up a range of month end reporting duties, not limited to financial reporting, but also balance-sheet analysis and wider commentary on key movers and drivers.
The applicant will lead month end close but also have coverage across the following key duties and responsibilities:
- Production of month end accounts with supporting commentary and analysis
- Balance sheet review and reconciliation with postings and adjustments as required
- Wider reconciliation and investigation of discrepancies, working closely with the business
- Lead finance projects to review and enhance current reporting, controls and outputs
- Leading year end close and working closely with the auditors on remedial actions
- Maintain fixed asset register and work closely with the business to track and account for capital expenditure
- Review of accounting processes and controls, ensuring SoX governance framework is maintained
- Oversee and work with the clients outsourced payroll provider, ensuring accuracy of information shared and recording of contributions
- Ensure compliance with external reporting for payroll, regulatory bodies and associated returns
- Oversee and support the development of junior staff in the team

Core experience in financial control and reporting is essential for success, having exposure to this in a controls / SoX environment. Applicants for the role will gain exposure on a UK and Global scale, with real autonomy in their work and ability to deliver changes and process improvements. A recognised accounting qualification is required for this role; CA, ACCA, CIMA, with suitable post-qualifying experience in a Blue Chip / Large-scale organisation.
