A new opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Manager to join a growing Financial Services Advisory team in Scotland (Edinburgh or Glasgow office). The role offers some fantastic exposure to a wide range of engagements across the financial services sector including assurance reviews, risk management advisory work, and regulatory projects. You will work closely with senior colleagues and clients across the UK financial services market. The role provides strong development opportunities through involvement in complex assignments, relationship management, and contribution to the ongoing growth of the advisory practice. The position can be based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow with a hybrid working model.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver internal audit reviews, regulatory assurance reviews, and advisory assignments across financial services clients while providing practical recommendations to senior management.
- Lead day to day delivery of engagements including planning, fieldwork, documentation, and reporting.
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and client teams.
- Participate in client meetings and support discussions with senior management and governance committees.
- Contribute to business development activity including proposals, market engagement, recruitment support, and service development.
- Support development of methodologies, tools, and advisory propositions.
- Ensure assignments are delivered on time and to a high quality standard.
- Manage engagement budgets and support commercial performance of projects.
- Identify potential opportunities to expand services within existing client relationships.
- Attend industry events and maintain awareness of developments within the financial services sector.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
- Experience delivering risk, assurance, or regulatory advisory work within the financial services sector.
- Understanding of the UK financial services regulatory environment.
- Experience contributing to advisory or assurance assignments within a structured project environment.
- Professional qualifications such as ICAEW, CIMA, CIIA, ACCA or similar are advantageous though not essential where relevant experience is demonstrated.
- Ability to lead complex reviews while working collaboratively within a team environment.
Experience Requirements
- Previous experience within financial services.
- Knowledge of regulatory expectations and risk frameworks relevant to financial institutions.
- Understanding of risk management and internal control environments.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Good working knowledge of financial products or regulated customer facing activities.
- First class communication skills with a growth mindset.
