Change Accountancy are supporting our client as they look to appoint a Management Accountant to their team. A permanent role, based in Dundee, the role will take a lead in supporting the department across a range of budget setting and reporting activities to ensure a robust control over costs and monitoring of these to aid in decision making.

Applicants for the role will have a base of budget and forecasting activity experience, be comfortable engaging with stakeholders and bring an eye for detail in challenging assumptions. Strong interpersonal skills is a must for the role and being able to speak to finance and non-finance stakeholders. A solid grounding in management account is expected given the nature of the role, key duties will cover the following:

  • Monthly analysis and review of departmental costs and spend
  • Working with the business to present key variances and updates on budgets
  • Allocation of costs and analysis of key drivers
  • Working with department heads to help understand performance and highlight areas of concern
  • A key role in annual budgeting and forecasting process, participating in reforecasting and review
  • Quarterly business unit review and analysis, working with stakeholders to determine key trends
  • Allocation of monthly accruals
  • Monthly reconciliations
  • Overseeing a small team and the allocation of work, review of consolidated business picture
  • Leading on process improvement and enhancing current working processes

Applicants will be qualified with experience in a similar role, with a proven background in budget setting and monthly management and reporting of trends to the business. The ability to present and be comfortable analysing financial data to identify key trends and translate variances to budget is important for the business and will be discussed at interview.

In return, the role offers an excellent opportunity for an individual to be visible and hands-on in communicating performance to a range of stakeholders, helping build their comprehension and input to annual numbers. Experience working in a public sector organisation would be of benefit but is not essential for the post.

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 + strong benefits
