Role Overview
This is a hands‑on and commercially focused Credit Control Manager position responsible for managing arrears, collections, and debt recovery activities across the full customer lifecycle.
Working closely with customers, third‑party partners, and internal stakeholders, you will be responsible for maximising recovery outcomes, reducing aged debt, and ensuring a positive customer experience throughout the collections process.
Alongside managing complex cases, you will help develop reporting, analyse performance data, identify operational improvements and support the implementation of more efficient processes.
This role would suit a proactive and self‑motivated individual who enjoys taking ownership, influencing change, and working within a fast‑paced, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage arrears cases across the full collections and recovery lifecycle.
- Lead the recovery of delinquent accounts, including complex and later‑stage arrears cases.
- Negotiate sustainable repayment arrangements with customers and support positive outcomes.
- Manage legal recovery and enforcement activity involving Debt Collection Agencies, Sheriff Officers, and legal firms.
- Act as the primary liaison between the organisation, outsourced collections providers, and arrears management platform teams.
- Analyse arrears and recovery data to identify trends, recovery opportunities and operational risks.
- Produce regular management information and reporting for senior leadership teams.
- Develop and improve credit control, arrears management, and debt recovery processes.
- Identify and implement process improvements through automation and AI solutions.
- Manage relationships with Credit Reference Agencies, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance.
- Handle communications relating to Debt Management Companies and Insolvency Practitioners.
- Ensure all activity complies with FCA requirements, Consumer Duty principles and relevant regulatory obligations.
- Candidate Profile
- We are keen to speak with experienced Credit Control, Collections, and Debt Recovery professionals who have operated within Financial Services or other regulated environments.
- You will be confident managing complex arrears cases, building strong stakeholder relationships, and working independently while supporting strategic improvements across the wider collections and recovery function.
- Key Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Credit Control Team Leader/Manager level
- Experience within a regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of debt recovery, legal enforcement and arrears management processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and produce meaningful reports.
- Highly organised, self‑motivated, and able to manage workloads independently.
- Proven experience driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and arrears, CRM, workflow or case management systems.
