Change Hospitality is currently recruiting for a talented and motivated Sous Chef on behalf of our client, a care home based in North London.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced chef looking to take the next step in their career within a rewarding environment where food quality, resident wellbeing and exceptional service are at the heart of everything.
Our client is seeking a passionate and organised Sous Chef who can support the Head Chef in managing the kitchen operation, maintaining high culinary standards and ensuring residents receive fresh, nutritious and beautifully presented meals every day.
The successful candidate will be a confident chef with strong leadership skills, a hands-on approach and a genuine passion for creating an excellent dining experience.
The Role
As Sous Chef, your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen and catering operation.
Preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality meals using fresh ingredients.
Helping lead, motivate and develop the kitchen team to maintain consistently high standards.
Ensuring menus are delivered effectively, with appropriate consideration for residents' preferences and nutritional needs.
Catering for special diets, food allergies, intolerances and texture-modified meals where required.
Maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene, health and safety and kitchen cleanliness.
Monitoring stock levels, managing food rotation and helping control food costs.
Minimising food waste and ensuring ingredients are used efficiently.
Supporting menu planning and contributing creative ideas to improve food quality and variety.
Ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly across all services and that meals are delivered on time.
Promoting a positive, professional and supportive working environment.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a Sous Chef who has:
Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef de Partie or in a similar senior kitchen role.
Strong culinary skills and a passion for producing fresh, high-quality food.
Experience supporting or leading a kitchen team.
A good understanding of food hygiene, allergen management and health and safety regulations.
Knowledge of nutritional requirements and special diets, ideally within a care or healthcare environment.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
A positive, hands-on attitude and the ability to lead by example.
A caring and professional approach to working in a resident-focused environment.
Experience within a care home, healthcare or contract catering setting would be advantageous, although candidates from other quality-driven hospitality environments are encouraged to apply.
