My client is a leading events caterer with a strong reputation for delivering exceptional food and events experiences across a diverse range of venues. As the business continues to grow, we are looking for an In-House Management Accountant to become the first dedicated finance hire and to play a key role in shaping how finance operates across the company.
This is a senior, hands-on position reporting directly to the MD and working closely with the senior leadership team. You will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function while also providing the insight, structure and controls needed to support a fast-moving, operationally complex events business.
This role will suit someone who enjoys combining commercial insight with practical delivery. You will be comfortable rolling up your sleeves when needed, while also building robust systems, improving reporting and helping the leadership team make better, data-driven decisions as the business scales.
Key Responsibilities- Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning
- Monitor profitability, margins and cost control across events, venues and catering streams
- Support strategic decision-making through financial modelling and scenario planning
- Ensure statutory compliance including VAT returns, year-end accounts and liaison with external accountants
- Take ownership of the in-house finance function, embedding strong processes and internal controls
- Own the purchase order (PO) process
- Act as senior point of contact for finance queries, ensuring timely and effective resolution
- Maintain oversight of freelancer approvals, timesheets and payment workflows
- Ensure robust expense and company card processes are followed with clear accountability
- Weekly/Monthly payroll
- Oversee credit control, actively managing debtor balances and supporting strong cash collection
- Proven experience as a Management Accountant or Finance Manager
- Strong operational finance background with hands-on experience of systems, processes and controls
- Confident working closely with senior leadership and challenging constructively where needed
- Experienced in managing relationships with external accountants and third-party providers
- Highly organised, commercially minded and solutions-focused
- Calm, credible and trusted, with a proactive and detail-driven approach
- Studying towards or qualified in ACCA, CIMA or equivalent is ideal
- Catering or Hospitality experience
