We are seeking an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development Director for one of our clients to lead growth for a large-scale, established business with significant expansion plans. This is a senior, hands-on role suited to a proven business winner from an agency environment or large venue/portfolio collection who brings an extensive network and a strong track record of converting opportunities into long-term revenue.
The role offers a unique opportunity to potentially build and establish a small-scale agency function within the business, leveraging existing infrastructure and brand strength. You will be a proven leader who will sit within the SEM team.
Key Responsibilities- Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities across corporate, agency, and international markets.
- Leverage an established "little black book" of DMCs, Agents, Direct corporates and strategic partners.
- Proactively generate and convert leads into confirmed revenue.
- Lead and manage tender submissions for venues and pitches for new events business.
- Negotiate terms and pricing to maximise profitability and long-term value with partnerships.
- Build, maintain, and grow senior-level relationships with key decision makers.
- Act as a brand ambassador in the market, representing the business at industry events, networking functions, and client meetings.
- Play a pivotal role in establishing and shaping a small in-house agency offering within the wider business.
- Work collaboratively with SEM colleagues to ensure seamless delivery and client satisfaction.
- Provide mentorship and leadership as the function grows.
- Proven experience as a Business Development Director / Senior Business Development Manager within an agency environment or a large venue group / venue collection.
- Demonstrable success in winning, converting, and growing high-value business deals.
- Strong experience in tendering, pitching, and contract negotiation.
- Exceptionally well-networked with an established and active industry contact base.
- Commercially astute with a strategic mindset and hands-on approach.
- Confident communicator with gravitas at senior and board level.
- Ability to operate autonomously while thriving in a collaborative SEM team environment.
