We are pleased to announce that we are working jointly on a project with New Hope Trust who secured funding and are now looking to recruit staff to join a dedicated multi-disciplinary team in Watford to support rough sleepers with harm reduction and engagement in treatment within drug and alcohol treatment services. Change, Grow, Live and New Hope staff will provide wraparound support to rough sleepers and will work directly with emergency accommodation to support the staff with this group of people. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals and friendly faces to help support people in leading healthier lives.
You will focus on engaging with people who have a history of rough sleeping and substance misuse. You will have some experience of engaging with individuals with multiple and/or complex needs and demonstrate a determined approach to finding solutions. The successful candidate will work alongside another Outreach Worker as part of the New Hope Trust team in Watford.
Where: Watford
Hours: Part time, 30 per week, Sunday to Wednesday, with shifts rotating between 6:00am–2:00pm, 9:00am–5:00pm, and 2:00pm–10:00pm.
Contract: Permanent
Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours. Salary is subject to review in line with the 2025/26 pay award.
Responsibilities
About the role:
- Supporting service users from point of entry into the service and through their treatment/recovery journey
- Providing screening, assessment, and recovery planning and onward referral
- Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community
- Promoting carer, service user and community involvement
- Providing advocacy for access to partnership services
- Working with service users to support social (re)integration, enabling them to lead meaningful and purposeful lives: promoting recovery, resilience, peer support and self-determination
About you:
- Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field
- Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written with good IT skills
- Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills
- Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice
- Be a supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal/external stakeholders
- Ability to manage change successfully in a way that prioritises the needs of service users
- Understand the importance of information governance processes and commit to follow and apply all necessary safeguards
- Seek out learning opportunities to improve and broaden your professional knowledge and skills and to contribute and oversee the learning and development of others.
- Hold a full current UK Driving License with access to own transport or be able to prove the ability to travel throughout the service area efficiently at all times.
