Overview
Volunteer Mentor (Community) at Change Grow Live. Based in Bromley. You’ll support people with drug and alcohol problems by offering one-to-one mentoring in the community and supporting recovery-based groups, both online and face-to-face. You will work as part of recovery support teams and help with re-engagement, check-ins, and promoting service user involvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one mentoring to people using our services, in the community.
- Work with recovery-based groups online and in person, including re-engagement, check-ins, and ongoing support.
- Build positive, trusting professional relationships with service users, using a strengths-based approach.
- Support service users to build self-confidence and progress toward recovery goals.
- Be a listening ear with a non-judgemental approach; be the first point of contact for some individuals.
- Participate in comprehensive training and receive day-to-day guidance, with a named supervisor.
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to safeguarding and DBS requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Lived experience of substance misuse (preferred), enabling understanding and engagement with service users.
- Ability to maintain a compassionate, open, and supportive approach.
- Age 18 or older.
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an enhanced level (post appointment).
