Overview
Making the decision to enter treatment can be an intimidating experience for the people we support. You can make a difference. As a Volunteer Group support worker with Change Grow Live you’ll work with people who use our services, helping them get to where they want to be. Based in Waltham Forest, you’ll be part of the Psycho- Social Interventions team. The team supports people with their or their loved ones’ drug and/or alcohol issues.
Responsibilities
- As a Group Work Support Volunteer, you will play an instrumental role in supporting the facilitator in the planning and preparation of groups.
- Promoting groups to service users, reminding them of up and coming sessions and engaging with those who do not attend.
- You will be provided with training and supported to eventually be able to take the lead in delivering some of the groups and provide one to one support to clients within the group setting.
- You will also have the opportunity to play a key role in the review and development of session materials including content, handouts and delivery.
Support and Development
We will support you in this volunteering role by ensuring that you receive regular supervision, and have someone on site who you can approach for day-to-day advice and guidance. In return for the time you give you will receive valuable training and gain experience and skills. You’ll be making a real difference too.

We also expect an assertive approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, young people and adults, and applicants to these posts will need to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to best safeguarding practice. We are actively recruiting people who can offer us 1 – 3 days per week to work within our drug & alcohol service; we are specifically looking for people who are keen and enthusiastic and would be able to commit to staying as a volunteer with us for up to one year.
