We currently have a vacancy in the Sefton team for a Social Worker. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing a wide range of treatment interventions. As a Social Worker with Change Grow Live, you will be working with people to help them change the direction of their life, grow as an individual, and live life to its full potential.
In this role, you will manage a caseload of families who have drug and/or alcohol misuse issues which could potentially put their children, families or themselves at risk. The purpose of this role is to help families overcome complex problems and will cover operational sites as required, including community locations and family homes. No two days are the same and as we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, being curious, a good listener and having a flexible approach are essential. There is a strong safeguarding focus to the role ensuring our staff team are trained and supported when working with service users.
Location: Southport
Full Time Hours: 37.5 per week
Full Time Salary Range: £37,184.90 - £44,471.72 dependent on experience (based on full time working hours, pro rata for part time hours)
Please note Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.
About the role:
- You will play a key part in developing the support offer and will work flexibly and creatively to establish what’s needed to have the most positive impact for people who use services.
- Work with families to help develop their life skills, this may include budgeting; managing finances; cookery; parenting; accessing numeracy and literacy classes; supporting access into education/employment.
- Provide interventions via 121 or groups. Groups will include (but are not limited to) practical parenting advice; support groups; social groups; fathers’ groups; therapeutic groups.
- Signpost and support parents and/or carers into treatment where necessary.
- You will be providing advice and consultation on risk, safeguarding and complex needs.
- You will support recovery coordinators with completing and reviewing referrals and actions.
- You will represent the service at various external meetings such as MARAC, MATAC and others.
About you:
- Hold a valid qualification in Social Work and be registered with the regulatory body.
- Completed ASYE.
- Experience of working with substance misuse and related complexities.
- Good working knowledge of children/adult social care system.
- Experience and knowledge on the working practice of Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults.
- Experience of working with families displaying challenging behaviour in one or more of the following fields: social work; youth offending; substance misuse; probation; health; family work; education; youth and community.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner and sensitivity in working with complex family issues.
- Ability to demonstrate effective interventions in enabling young people and adults to improve their life skills/opportunities.
- Experience of application of the Care Act (Desirable).
- Knowledge of local safeguarding protocols (Desirable).
- Knowledge of local self-neglect guidance and processes (Desirable).
