About the Role

Our Barnet Opiate Team supports people experiencing opiate dependency and those affected by a loved one’s substance use. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in helping individuals access the support they need to move forward in their recovery journey.

Opiate Recovery Coordinator – you will assess, engage and support people accessing the service, ensuring they receive the right intervention at the right time. You will work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to deliver personalised recovery plans that focus on reducing harm and building long-term resilience.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will be working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, so curiosity, empathy and strong listening skills are essential.

This role involves weekend and evening shifts.

Location & Hours

Where: Barnet

Hours: Full time, 37.5 per week

Salary & Allowances

• Full-time Salary £27,861.26 – £32,002.35
• Outer London Weighting £2,195.72
• Full-time hours are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

• Supporting service users from point of entry into the service and through their treatment/recovery journey
• Providing screening, assessment, and recovery planning and onward referral
• Assessment of need including current drug use; drug history; physical and mental health; social situation and risk assessment
• Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community
• Ensure that service users receive a comprehensive, recovery-based detoxification service user plan, including support for preparation for detox and aftercare
• Promoting carer, service user and community involvement
• Providing advocacy for access to partnership services
• Working with service users to support social (re)integration, enabling them to lead meaningful and purposeful lives promoting recovery, resilience, peer support and self-determination

Qualifications

• Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field
• Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with good IT skills
• Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills
• Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice
• Be a supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal/external stakeholders
• Ability to manage change successfully in a way that prioritises the needs of service users
• Understand the importance of information governance processes and commit to follow and apply all necessary safeguards
• Seek out learning opportunities to improve and broaden your professional knowledge and skills and to contribute and oversee the learning and development of others
• The post holder will have prior knowledge and experience of providing interventions for service users affected by Opiate use
• Have the ability to work with and manage challenging behaviour
• Availability to work weekends and evenings
