As a Healthcare Support Volunteer, you are an equal and valued member of the Healthcare team, supporting them in the day-to-day delivery of health and wellbeing interventions at our Bradnor Point, Wythenshawe and/or Zion Centre, Hulme bases. Our service users’ health and wellbeing is really important to us so you will be playing a pivotal role in supporting the promotion of healthier lifestyles and harm reduction interventions including providing naloxone within our services and community hubs.

You will be supporting clinics by working with clients to prepare them for a medical review; this will include taking blood pressure, screening for substances and discussing expectations. Following training, you will support the facilitation and delivery of Blood Borne Virus screening and vaccinations as part of the healthcare team. You will be working closely with staff and partner agencies supporting service users to access treatment and clinical interventions.

Key Activities:
  • Support the team to undertake healthcare assessments
  • Complete and follow up on referrals to specialist care providers and share outcomes with Senior / Health and Wellbeing Nurses and/or Lead Clinician.
  • Screen for blood borne viruses and contribute to care planning to assure effective referrals to Hepatology and GUM services to enable assessment for specialist treatment.
  • Support the provision of pre and post blood borne virus test discussion.
  • Prepare service users ready for clinics
  • Support the delivery of clinics
  • Record activities and interventions undertaken
  • As part of the team, participate in the promotion of health and wellbeing interventions
  • Support the delivery of detox interventions
  • Assist and carry out screening processes including urine and saliva tests.
  • Support the delivery of community health clinics and interventions
  • Liaise with other partner agencies including primary care and pharmacies

An important part of the role is listening to people and sharing what you have heard with the service, representing their views, and using their feedback to help inform how we develop and improve our services. You will help to ensure people hear about any decisions or changes that are made because of their feedback. You will be working with Change Grow Live staff and connecting with the wider community.

Safeguarding and Commitment: We also expect an assertive approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, young people and adults, and applicants to these posts will need to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to best safeguarding practice. We are actively recruiting people who can offer us 1 - 3 days per week to work within our drug & alcohol service; we are specifically looking for people who are keen and enthusiastic and would be able to commit to staying as a volunteer with us for up to one year.

Training and Availability: Interviews will take place after 30/03/26. All candidates must be available for training which will commence from 20/04/26 and will involve one day/week over seven weeks as follows: Mondays at Bradnor Point, Wythenshawe, M22 4TF; Wednesdays at The Old School House, Clayton, M11 4HA.
