We have an exciting opportunity for a Recovery Coordinator – Non-Opiates/Smoking Cessation in our Non-Opiates Team who has the skills and experience to assess and engage with our service users. The post holder will ensure a high quality and consistent service to groups who traditionally and regularly find our services challenging to access; service users may have either drug and/or alcohol related issues and may have a co-morbidity or complexity of need. In fulfilling their duties, the post-holder will be expected to work with individuals to develop positive lifestyle changes and health choices. Promote harm reduction and personalised health promotion interventions to encourage people to access mainstream services within the community.

Hours: Full time, 37.5 per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Responsibilities:

  • Act as main care coordinator overseeing assigned groups of Non-Opiate service users
  • Ensure a MDT approach to caseload management to encourage lead agencies who are involved to actively support service users.
  • Utilise home visits and community venues for one to one and group work sessions.
  • Provide rapid and flexible interventions where required to meet the needs of the service users
  • Support service users from point of entry into the service and through their treatment/recovery journey
  • Provide Very Brief Advice training to CGL staff and volunteers and local partner organisations Emerging Futures and Kirklees in Recovery
  • Use a trauma informed approach to build engagement and support
  • Engage with professionals and the wider community to increase understanding of the impacts of smoking on health and wellbeing.
  • Provide support via 1:1, group, drop in and telephone support to our clients wishing to become smoke free.
  • Support the Team Lead to ensure service targets are achieved
  • Understanding and knowledgeable of the harmful effects associated with smoking.

About you:

  • Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field
  • Experience of working with service users with a range of needs, such as mental health, physical health and criminal justice.
  • Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written with good IT skills
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills
  • Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice
  • Be a supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal/external stakeholders
  • An understanding and awareness of current national policies on smoking and the strategies that influence the priorities of stop smoking services.
  • Experience of working within a Health and/or social care environment
