We are looking for a Community Recovery Worker to join our vibrant Great Yarmouth service. The role involves working from our hub and from the community, partnering with agencies such as local hostels to provide tailored support for individuals facing substance use challenges, with additional barriers such as physical health issues, language needs, or no recourse to public funds (NRPF).

Location & Working Hours

Great Yarmouth, Norfolk
Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £27,861.26 – £32,002.35 competitive with experience (pro‑rata for part‑time)
Contract: Permanent
Driving licence and vehicle access required due to travel demands.

Responsibilities

  • Build trust and support recovery, guiding individuals from first contact through assessment, planning, and onward referrals.
  • Promote growth and independence by encouraging resilience, peer connections, and self‑determination.
  • Reduce harm and foster community integration, helping reduce risks associated with substance use.
  • Advocate for individuals to access services and resources, ensuring no barriers stand in their way.
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate group activities that are creative, impactful, and tailored to those you support.

Qualifications

  • Lived experience or deep understanding of substance use challenges, providing a unique perspective and empathy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including listening, clear communication, and willingness to learn new IT skills.
  • Proactive, eager to learn, able to manage time effectively and embrace challenges with a positive outlook.
  • Awareness of mental health and recovery, with a passion for expanding knowledge in these areas.
  • Team‑oriented, collaborative, building strong relationships with professionals, stakeholders, and community members.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality, eager to grow, improve, and contribute to team success.
