At Change Grow Live you will be supporting people in recovery from alcohol and/or substance use to help them change the direction of their life, grow as an individual and live life to its full potential. The West Lothian Recovery Service are looking for volunteers who will play a key role in supporting the service and the staff team. As a duty volunteer you will be volunteering in the office, with staff and supporting clients. This is a great opportunity for someone who has approximately one or two afternoons a week to offer their time to volunteer to support the West Lothian Recovery Services and the Recovery Community.

Responsibilities

  • Support people in recovery from alcohol/substance use.
  • Ensure communication between staff, service users and partner agencies runs smoothly.
  • Greet all visitors promptly in a friendly, welcoming and courteous manner.
  • Book clients in/out and inform staff of their arrival.
  • Help put clients at ease, taking them to the waiting area, offering tea/coffee and sitting with them for a chat.
  • Listen, support and act as a positive role model, encouraging and motivating clients prior to their scheduled appointment.
  • Promote the service and talk about what we do as well as signposting within the recovery community.
  • Work both alone and with the staff team supporting them with various duties.
  • Be IT literate, accessing, entering and updating records on our IT systems as well as using emails.
  • Receive training both prior to and consistently throughout the role to support any competencies and development.
  • Have a willingness to learn, be friendly and helpful.

Please note that we require you to be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this volunteering role.
