We’re excited to be recruiting for our SmokeFree Croydon service — and we’re looking for an Engagement & Referral Support Worker to join us on this journey. This is a fantastic opportunity to support a specialist stop smoking service focused on improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities across Croydon. You’ll play an important role in supporting outreach, engagement, referral pathways, and community-based activities — helping people access the support they need to make positive lifestyle changes. Working alongside Smoke Free Advisors and partner organisations, you’ll support individuals from diverse communities, including those accessing mental health, substance misuse, homelessness, and wider wellbeing services. Through compassionate engagement and community connection, you’ll help improve accessibility, increase referrals, and support people on their smoke‑free journey.

This is a fixed term role until 31/03/2027, working 12 hours per week. Working in Croydon means being part of a vibrant, diverse, and dynamic community with a strong local identity. Responsibilities

  • Supporting community outreach sessions, engagement activities, and local awareness events across Croydon.
  • Promoting the benefits of stopping smoking and encouraging referrals into SmokeFree Croydon services.
  • Supporting Smoke Free Advisors during outreach clinics, campaigns, and partnership activities.
  • Helping service users access support through referral processing, appointment booking, and follow‑up engagement.
  • Providing brief advice, health promotion messaging, and encouragement around healthier lifestyles.
  • Supporting underserved communities, including individuals accessing mental health, substance misuse, and homelessness services.

About You

  • Passionate about supporting people and improving community wellbeing.
  • Friendly, approachable, and able to engage with people in a respectful and non‑judgemental way.
  • Interested in community engagement, behavioural support, and public health.
  • A strong communicator with good interpersonal and relationship‑building skills.
