Overview

Employment Specialist (Individual Placement and Support) at Change Grow Live (CGL). You will work in Birmingham, managing a small caseload of clients currently accessing structured treatment for drug and/or alcohol use, guiding and supporting them to secure meaningful employment as part of a community-based treatment service.

Hours and Salary

Full Time, 37.5 hours per week. Salary: £29,529.80 – £32,002.35, dependent on experience (pro rata for part-time hours). Contract: Permanent.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a small caseload of service users in structured substance use treatment, supporting their motivation for work.
  • Implement the Integrated Placement and Support (IPS) methodology, providing relevant training and guidance.
  • Engage clients to identify work skills, goals, and aspirations, and develop tailored job search plans.
  • Assist with job search activities, including CV creation, applications, interviews, and career development, with targeted employer interactions.
  • Create In-Work Support Plans to address work-related needs, including guidance on benefits and health considerations for employment sustainability.
  • Participate in weekly clinical team meetings, foster relationships, and encourage referrals to the IPS service.
  • Identify and curate job opportunities through customised searches and employer liaison for both advertised and hidden roles.
  • Provide ongoing support and monitoring post-employment to help ensure job sustainability.

About You / Qualifications

  • Experience in employment placement or related roles.
  • Experience or understanding of working with individuals requiring substance use support or similar client groups.
  • Excellent motivational, communication, and attentive listening skills.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and ability to build rapport.
  • Non-judgmental, trustworthy, and empathetic approach toward mental health support needs.
