Job Details

  • Location: Sheppey Cluster – HMP Elmley, HMP Swaleside, and HMP Standford Hill (occasionally HMP Rochester, HMP Cookham Wood, HMP Maidstone, and HMP East Sutton Park)
  • Hours: 37.5 per week (Full Time)
  • Contract: 12‑month fixed‑term
  • DBS Check: Enhanced DBS check required plus HMPPS security clearance
  • Salary: CGL points 23 to 28 (£27,861.26 – £32,002.35)

About the Role

  • Recruit, train and support a diverse range of peer mentors throughout the prison estate.
  • Manage a volunteer recruitment and support strategy within the service.
  • Work closely with Healthcare, Prison Security and Offender Management Unit to ensure robust recruitment/selection and risk management processes.
  • Oversee supply of Peer Mentor uniform requirements as needed.
  • Coordinate peer mentor involvement in inductions and co‑facilitate intervention programmes.

About You

  • Experience working within a prison or criminal justice setting.
  • Sensitivity to complex and diverse cultural issues.
