We are looking for a Recovery Coordinator to join our team in Coventry. Your role will focus on identifying, engaging and supporting service users with drug and/or alcohol needs, delivering targeted interventions and robust release planning to reduce substance misuse, re-offending and associated harm. You will work closely with prisons, probation services, and community-based providers to ensure seamless transitions and timely access to appropriate support on release.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to become a prison in-reach worker on a fixed term basis, engaging service users who are engaged in a cycle of reoffending. This role involves weekly travel to our feeder prison, HMP Hewell, therefore access to a car and valid clean driving licence is required for this role.

Location: Coventry

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Full Time Salary Range: £27, £32,002.35 dependent on experience (based on full time hours, pro rata for part time hours)

Contract Type: Permanent

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key liaison between prison in-reach teams and community drug/alcohol services to support continuity of care, shared case management, and coordinated risk reduction planning.
  • Carry out prison-based screenings, initial assessments, and risk assessments, developing recovery plans in partnership with service users prior to release.
  • Provide harm reduction education, overdose prevention, and relapse management planning with service users in custody and following release into the community.
  • Deliver and promote Naloxone provision pre- and post-release, and train service users and peers in its use where appropriate.
  • Offer "through-the-gate" support including gate pickups where appropriate and facilitate access to community recovery services, housing, and health appointments upon release.
  • Conduct home visits, hostel visits, and community outreach as needed to maintain engagement, particularly with high-risk individuals and those at risk of disengagement.
  • Work collaboratively with police, probation, mental health, housing, and social care partners to address the complex needs of high-risk service users and promote recovery and rehabilitation.
