A fantastic, new opportunity has arisen to become an Occupational Therapist, improving choice and control for individuals who may be rough sleeping, homeless or at risk of homelessness. This role offers the opportunity to join a committed multi-disciplinary Rough Sleepers team in Coventry, delivering thoughtful, person-centred support that strengthens recovery and fosters genuine independence. You will provide autonomous, specialist assessment and intervention for individuals with complex needs, working in community settings that are socially and culturally attuned to each person’s circumstances. The post also involves creating and delivering training for professionals and carers, and supporting people both individually and in group environments such as Coping Skills and SMART Recovery meetings.
Where: Coventry
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
Full Time Salary: £34,214.21- £36,183.91 dependent on experience (Pro rata for part time)
About the Role
- Contribute to the creation of service pathways and tools.
- Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessment, treatment and management for clients with complex mental health needs.
- Assess the impact of substance misuse on occupational performance and determine appropriate interventions.
- Manage a caseload of individuals with complex and fluctuating needs.
- Prioritise workload effectively and maintain professional time management.
- Work collaboratively within the Rough Sleeper Team to provide high-quality, individualised, recovery-focused care.
- Provide interventions in socially and culturally appropriate community settings to encourage participation in daily, vocational, social and leisure activities.
- Build and maintain effective pathways with statutory and non-statutory agencies across health, social care, judicial and educational sectors.
- Support delivery of consistent, evidence-based practice aligned with national guidance and professional standards.
- Maintain and apply knowledge of evidence-based interventions, offering education and advice where required.
About You
- Commitment to fostering positive relationships with colleagues, patients and carers.
- Clear evidence of effective rapport-building and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity to remain flexible, adaptable and composed under pressure.
- Ability to organise, prioritise and manage a varied workload.
- Degree or Master’s qualification in Occupational Therapy, recognised by the relevant professional body, with current HCPC registration.
- Ongoing commitment to continued professional development.
- Relevant specialist experience, such as in mental health, trauma or substance misuse.
- Postgraduate training relevant to the role’s requirements.
- Strong knowledge of applicable legislation and policy.
- Substantial post-registration practice experience, including postgraduate development.
- Awareness of and adherence to national clinical guidelines.
- Full driving licence, as required for the role.
