Believe in People? So Do We. Change can start with one conversation, one connection and one person who refuses to give up. In Coventry, we work alongside people affected by drug and alcohol use, helping them take back control, build resilience and move towards the life they want. We’re looking for an Extended Brief Intervention Recovery Coordinator who brings compassion, energy and determination. Someone who can build trust, connect the right people and turn a plan for change into practical action. This is more than coordinating support. It’s about seeing the person, recognising their potential and helping them take their next step.

Make Every Contact Count

You’ll be a consistent point of support from someone’s first conversation with us and throughout their treatment and recovery. As their Recovery Coordinator, you’ll look beyond the immediate issue to understand the whole person — their strengths, needs, experiences and goals. You’ll complete assessments, manage risk and turn what matters to them into a clear, achievable recovery plan. You won’t do this alone. You’ll connect people with the right clinical care, mental health support and community opportunities, building strong relationships with GPs, health services, criminal justice partners and local organisations. It’s practical, purposeful work where the relationships you build can make a lasting difference.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience of supporting people affected by drug or alcohol use in an outcomes-focused environment, with the confidence to complete assessments, manage risk and coordinate individual support.
  • Strong communication and partnership-working skills, including the ability to make complex information accessible and work effectively across health, mental health, criminal justice and community services.
  • The ability to work independently, organise competing priorities, maintain accurate records and contribute positively to the wider team.
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, professional boundaries, inclusive practice and your own continued learning.
  • Knowledge of mental health interventions, services and good practice would be an advantage.

You’ll work flexibly across local operational sites when required. This may occasionally include evening or weekend work to meet the needs of the service.

Responsibilities

This is a varied role where no two days will be the same. You’ll:

  • Complete screening, comprehensive assessments, recovery planning and regular reviews.
  • Coordinate psychosocial, clinical and harm-reduction interventions.
  • Provide one-to-one support and contribute to group work where required.
  • Complete risk assessments and develop effective risk-management plans.
  • Support people receiving substitute prescribing treatment.
  • Provide harm-reduction advice, including information about blood-borne viruses and overdose prevention.
  • Help people access peer support, mutual aid and local recovery communities.
  • Promote social integration, resilience, self-determination and recovery capital.
  • Complete triage assessments and referrals to treatment and community services.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and confidential records.
  • Support drug and alcohol screening, needle exchange and naloxone provision following appropriate training.
  • Help with duty cover and the wider day-to-day running of the service.
  • Support volunteers and peer mentors where required.

You’ll be encouraged to think creatively about engagement, particularly when reaching people and communities who may experience barriers to accessing treatment.

What we’ll offer you

You’ll receive 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing by one day for each completed year of service during your first five years, giving you 30 days after five years. You’ll also have access to:

  • A paid Wellness hour each week, our Wellness Hub and Employee Assistance Programme.
  • A contributory pension scheme.
  • Shopping, cinema, holiday and lifestyle discounts.
  • Training, career development and progression opportunities.
  • A friendly and supportive team.
  • Our Refer a Friend scheme, offering £250 in vouchers when an eligible referral is successful.
