We are looking for a consultant psychiatrist to provide leadership, expert advice and direction to ensure that service users consistently receive high-quality services that adhere to best practice guidelines and achieve high professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical assessment, including psychiatric and physical investigations, of a wide range of substance misusers presenting to the service.
• Operate within guidelines, policies and procedures relevant to the post.
• Conduct phlebotomy tests and support nursing team to ensure maximum testing for BBVs and Hepatitis A and B vaccination.
• Attend multidisciplinary meetings as appropriate.
• Participate in continuing professional development, annual appraisal, revalidation and join appropriate supervision and PDP groups.
• Work in partnership with users and carers to empower them to make decisions about their treatment and care.
• Remain up to date on professional developments as required by the professional body.

Qualifications

• Medical Degree, completion of Basic Medical Training and Full GMC UK Registration with licence to practice.
• MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
• Good knowledge of addiction psychiatry and relevant mental health legislation.
• An understanding of the work of other agencies, including non-statutory services.
• Experience working with substance misuse and mental health issues, and ability to deliver quality services.
• Capacity to work independently and keep calm under pressure.

What We Offer

• Salary: £138,714.28 – £149,713.64 (pro‑rated for part‑time hours). Inner London weighting: £4,133.14.
• Location: Tower Hamlets.
• Contract Type: Fixed term until 18th January 2027.
• Part‑time hours: 22.5 per week (pro‑rated salary).
• Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays, with an extra day for each year of service up to five years (30 days after five years).
